Why Pathways Forward
Pathways Forward exists because one of the greatest barriers facing underserved students is not ability or motivation, but exposure.
Through TeachForth and SummerTech, we work with students from Oracabessa, Jamaica to help them see what is possible, build confidence, and step into leadership-focused learning environments.
This initiative supports the real, practical costs that allow students to take that first step.
Why Oracabessa
At Oracabessa High School, very few students go on to secondary or tertiary education. This is not a reflection of talent or potential, but of limited access to visible pathways beyond the local context.
Through our partnership with the Goldeneye Foundation, we have seen what happens when students are trusted, supported, and invited into environments that emphasize leadership, communication, and responsibility.
We believe that when students are exposed to new pathways and supported within a human-centered learning community, meaningful growth follows.
A Proven Path
This work is not theoretical.
One of the earliest students to come to SummerTech from Jamaica returned home with more than new technical skills. He returned with confidence, perspective, and a sense of belonging within a broader learning community.
Today, he is on a path toward becoming a SummerTech staff member, supporting others the way he was once supported.
Pathways Forward builds on this proven model by opening the door for more students to begin that same journey.
Sponsorship Options
Pathway Sponsor
$1,500
A full Pathway Sponsor covers the complete cost to support one student’s journey to SummerTech, including travel, visa processing, and essential transportation expenses.
This option is especially well-suited for groups or organizations who want to come together around a single, tangible impact and support a student end-to-end.
Pathway Builder
Flexible Giving
Individual contributions of any amount are pooled to support additional students and expand access to this program.
Sponsors may choose to be acknowledged publicly, privately, or anonymously.
What Sponsors Receive
Sponsors may receive:
- A written introduction to the student they supported
- A short bio or photo, when appropriate
- Periodic updates throughout the summer (arrival, first week, end of program)
- A thank-you note from the student
- An invitation to a TeachForth gathering at SummerTech when students are present

Pathways Forward is about more than a single summer.
It is about opening doors, building confidence, and creating long-term pathways through leadership, communication, and community. Getting to SummerTech is the beginning of a hopeful and lasting journey, not the end of one.
